Rais: Internet filter to keep out porn

Information Communication and Culture Minister Rais Yatim today confirmed media reports that the government was considering imposing an Internet filter to block "undesirable" websites.

However he stressed that the filter was only to stop the free access to pornography which was freely available online at present.

He denied that the Internet filtering - ala China - was to stop bloggers from inflaming racial sentiments.

"The bloggers will face the normal laws of the land (if they breach the laws," he told reporters in Kuala Lumpur today.

If they were serious about Porn, internet should be censored after they deal with illegal porn distribution outside of internet first.

Don't you think they should first catch all the DVD peddlers.
"Ham tai..... 3 star?? 5 star???? Superstar????... What you want??? We have"

Don't you think they should filter the SMS, MMS, GPRS network too? Everyone is distributing their homemade porns on the handphone.
Why don't they confiscate all their handphones first?

Internet censorship is very VERY subjective.
I won't even agree with China's "Green Dam". It's a repressive law.
They even hired thousands of cybertroopers to make sure people are not against the government.

It's frikking obvious what the government intend to do with the internet censorship program.
That is; to censor political sites.

PORN.... Pheh...... I can still buy em from the DVD guys. Worst come. I can still transfer videos from friends.
Remember Chua Soi Lek's scandal??? Who's the biggest distributor???
The DVD guy... it was all over the place.

What's wrong with PORN anyway????

PORN can actually be a healthy product.
We don't want our kids in school come out and think that Oral Sex can impregnate someone because some inexperience morons with towel on his head said so.

In fact, if the government were to open up, I would support the Porn industry.
Best of all.... Government should SUBSIDIZE porn industry.
Malaysia have SHORTAGE of porn.

We're so short of porn, violence overtook people's mentality and causes unnecessary death in Shah Alam.
