Being in a country with terrace shops nearly everywhere; when we drive, we tend to look for a parking space AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE to the shop we want to be at.

The Culture of Terrace Shop Parking
This may get a little technical. However, I can assure you, it's ALMOST PSYCHOLOGICALLY ACCURATE for Malaysians
Here's a standard road plan of two rows of terrace shops (Back facing each other)
Purple - Shop Destination (Assumed Location)
Green - Parking Priority 1
Yellow- Parking Priority 2 (8 to 72 feet walking distance to your shop)
Blue - Parking Priority 3 (73 to 144 feet walking distance to your shop)
White- Last Resort (>144 feet walking distance to your shop)
(Parking Kiasuness Culture)
-At entry to the area, you will first drive to the exact location of your destination shop. Oddly, regardless of whether there are any parking spots in Yellow or Blue Zone, you'll aim to get the Green Zone. By actually getting the Green Zone; which is directly in front of your shop is a happiness of the moment; much like striking a jackpot.
-If the Green Zone is occupied, you'll immediately look for the next best alternative; and that would be the Yellow Zone. If this zone is occupied, you'll take a FULL ROUND (across to the starting point of the row of shop) and restart the search again. This time, you'll linger around Yellow and Green Zone and SCAN around the perimeters; hoping for the 'DRIVERS OF THESE PARKED CARS' would claim their cars.
You'll scan their 'behaviour', 'direction they are going', and the 'position of their cars'.
This SCANNING METHOD is called "I Wait like an Idiot for Outgoing Cars to get a Nice Parking Space".
You'll linger around 10 seconds doing this.
-After 10 seconds, if nothing happen, you should give up.
This time, you'll consider the next alternative, which is the Blue Zone.
You'll take another FULL ROUND and restart your search at the starting point to get the Blue Zone.
If it's all occupied, you'll do the SCANNING METHOD for all three Zones (Green, Yellow and Blue).
This time, you'll linger around 20 seconds.
-After another 20 seconds, and still no Outgoing Cars, you should give up.
This time, you'll DOUBLE PARK in front of Green Zone.(Nobody wants to walk more than 144 feet)
DOUBLE PARKING
You'll wait to get honked by the owner of cars you DOUBLE PARKed. When they do, you'll reverse and wait for them to come out to Occupy their Space.
This DOUBLE PARKING method is called "I park like an Asshole and wait for you to come out to get your Space".
If you're only there for a brief period and hoping that the owners you DOUBLE PARKed would not claim their cars within that time frame, the method of DOUBLE PARKING is called "Wait a little while OK?".
If you plan to get the Green Zone anyway, you'll stick a note with your phone number in your windscreen. This method is called "I'll only move my car if you call me... sorry if you forgot to bring your handphone".
Rare Malaysians- If you're more civic minded, you'll continue to look for any spot in the White Zone and take whatever available rather than double parking.

This only apply for Terrace Shops parking
Oddly enough, this does not apply to Stadium Football Games or Shopping Complex.
A natural Malaysian would walk 1km from carpark to stadium seat to watch soccer.
A natural Malaysian who parked in KLCC level B5 would take 15 mins to get from parking space to Jimmy Choo shop without complaining.
But, when it comes to Terrace Shop lots (under the sun), they would try to even try save 5 feet of distance. WHY????

Why can't you walk a bit more?
Honestly, I still can't understand why Malaysian can't walk a bit further.
Consider this logic.
Time Spent Spinning One FULL ROUND to get to starting point=20 seconds to 15mins(if traffic jam)
Time Spent Lingering around and SCAN= 30 seconds to 5 mins
Amount of Petrol/DeadDinosaurs wasted= 0.2 liters to 5 liters
You wasted so much time and so much Petrol just to save that few feet distance to your shop.
Is that WORTHY???
If you walk 5ft/second, you'll reach 300ft in only 1 minute.
Look.......... 300ft is like twice the distance of Blue Zone.
So why can't you walk a bit further????
THE SUN TOO HOT????
Not COOL to WALK??????
