Why do politicians get sacked for doing the right things?

As reported from Bernama today,Datuk Zaid Ibrahim is officially sacked from UMNO.
Another member, Petaling Jaya's UMNO division chief Zahar Hashim is also suspended for three years.

Let's take a look at Zaid Ibrahim's case. He is accused of going against the UMNO ethics by:-

- Speaking out loud against the concept of 'Ketuanan Melayu'
(Note: Did this concept actually lift the Majority Malay up in the society as whole? Zaid is indeed spot on in his observation that this concept is no longer valid, as it affects the country's economy by favouring only a few elites.)

- Strongly against the use of ISA. He's the only person from UMNO who speak out loud against the use of such law; where the rest of the UMNO members are either silent or supportive to the perpetual use of ISA.
(Note: The only reason why American supported Patriot Act is because of terrorism. In Malaysia, its equivalent law ISA had been misused so many times that the general public is disgusted with it. Only people within UMNO circle would want ISA to be retained. MCA and MIC would also want to repeal ISA if they have the power to do so.)

- Attending opposition congress.
(Note: What's wrong with getting to know his opposition? He can look at different perspective in politic, rather than being constrained to the UMNO's "Katak di Bawah Tempurung" political view level. Zaid is probably there to broaden his political view. If there's one thing to be learn from this is that UMNO is a shallow political party. This will only push Zaid further; perhaps even to join opposition and strengthen their political pursuit.)

What about Zahar Hashim? He's suspended for the following action:-

- Became the whistleblower for the Eurocopter case.
(Note: When it's People's money at stake, whistleblowing that protects mismanagement of country's fund is actually a positive effort. Only the corrupted would see this as wrongdoing.)


Kesianlar, tak pasal pasal kena sacked and suspended. There're definitely something wrong with UMNO's party ethics. If they keep going like this, no one (other than the golongan 'Hidup UMNO, Mati pun UMNO') will ever support their race-based political ideology.
